2011 Woody Valley X-Alps Pod
October 22, 2010
Woody Valley has offered a look at the prototype for their 2011 X-Alps Race Pod.
Woody Valley has stated that they hope to have the harness ready in the Spring of 2011, but it may not be ready until the 2011 X-Alps in July 2011. The race version without back protection weighs only 2.3kg. If the pilot wants to add the foam back protection, you can expect to add another 0.9kg, bringing the total weight to roughly 3.2kg. This is a significant difference from Woody Valley's standard competition pod, which weights around 8kg.
At this time, the harness contains a front mount reserve container with a rigid flight deck on top of the reserve container. The foot board section of the pod contains no foam, but has an inflatable valve to give that section of the pod its shape. This has also led to weight and size reduction. the rear fairing is made of lightweight material that inflates during flight.
We can't wait to get our hands on one of these. We'll post any updates we get on this harness to this page.
